Completely renovated barn with unique seaweed roof on Læsø

In the former stable and barn of a homestead from 1782, a lovely cottage has been created. Here you'll still find a feeding trough, water point and high ceilings in most places. The summer cottages on Læsø have very characteristic and special roofs made of seaweed. After the previous owner lived in the house for 54 years, new owners have taken over, and they have preserved much of the old in the renovation in 2019. Inside, there is a lovely calmness due to the thick roofs. Here you can enjoy the warmth and the crackling of the wood-burning stove in the winter cold or the lovely summer days in nature close to the water. This part of the seaweed house has a room with a double bed and a bunk bed and a room with a double bed. The entire house was originally built from timber and wreckage from shipwrecks, as all the forest on the island was used for salt mining in the late 1600s. The islanders used stranded vessels to build the houses. 'Knøv', as the house is called, was built over several generations. Additions have been made as the family grew larger or if they experienced more prosperity. The last one at Knøv was built in 1918 as a stable and is covered with straw. Outside, nature is fantastic and the many acres of land are full of adventure. And if you want to make a fire, you can do just that. The beach is just 900 meters from the cottage, and if you're looking for a grocery store, harbor environment and restaurants, head to Østerby, which is just 2.5 kilometers from the cottage. The bus is free, but you have to walk a short kilometer to the junction in Gl. Østerby to get on.
